Feed lambs starting at 60 pounds of body weight and continuing to market weight. Begin feeding at 1% of body weight daily along with good quality alfalfa hay or other suitable forage. Gradually increase the feed amount to 2-4% of body weight daily while reducing the forage portion. For optimal growth rates, work up to 3.0-3.5% of body weight. Lambs may be offered good quality grass hay at up to 10% of their total feed intake. To stimulate appetite, it is recommended to provide 0.25 pounds of good-quality hay per head per day.
